Memory Box

The one really sentimental item that I have would have to be my laptop. I remember when I got it as well. It was the summer before my junior year in high school, and I was getting more serious about going into film school. I had a Macbook that I had been using for years, and it was getting extremely old and useless. I would have to wait a good five minutes for even the most basic of functions.

My mom saw me struggling with my old computer, and while I was away at camp, she had gotten some money together for a new computer for me, and she surprised me when I got home with a new computer. It was maxed out on the processor and the memory, the perfect setup for editing.

It was more than just a material thing that she had given me that summer. She was validating who I wanted to become and gave me the tools that I needed in order to progress my abilities.

I still use this computer to this day. It comes with me everywhere I go. It has seen different countries, gotten me into college, and has gotten me a lot of opportunities. Even though there might be better computers now, I will never ever want to give this one up.
