“This is Water” – Annotation

I actually really enjoyed this speech for a couple of reasons. I feel that I connected a lot with the theme of intentional consciousness because I came from a small town where this idea is quite foreign. That unconsciousness was suffocating to me. Wallace utilizes his colloquial language to establish a good bond with his audience. His “no bullshit” attitude that he takes with his diction establishes that Wallace’s words are as true and authentic in this setting as it would be in a one on one conversation with him.
